Now, let’s begin!
English Phrases and Idioms
Gift of Gab
You may have noticed that some people have the gift of gab from an early age.
This phrase means to be able to speak with eloquence and fluency.
Long-Winded
As you can imagine, people did not appreciate my long-winded emails, among a handful of things.
Long-winded refers to speech or writing that continues at length in a tedious way.
Something Is a Steal
When you’re looking at paying at least $100 for a resume editor, at just $59, the course is a steal!
Saying something is a steal is an informal way of saying it is a bargain.
How to Land Your Next Job Online Video Course
With so many people laid off because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, I am so thankful that I have a job that allows me to help people move on to new employment opportunities. Some of the episodes in this podcast are for job seekers, and I also provide an intense online video course for people wanting to apply for jobs strategically and land a job quickly. I’m always thrilled when someone writes to tell me about their experience taking the course. Here’s what Hernando had to say, who Landed an ERP Application Developer job in Miami right after taking the course:
“The How to Land Your Next Job course covers the entire job search process from adjusting your mindset to following up after an interview. The lessons I found most relevant were about resume and job search mistakes as well as how to present yourself in an interview. I can say from experience that it is a great source of information for an international student since it addresses common scenarios non-native English speakers face.”

English Learning Homework
Alright, that’s all of the phrases and idioms for today! Learning takes repetition and implementation. So, I’ll give you some homework! Listen to this episode again and repeat the words out loud to practice. It will help you to improve your American pronunciation, among other things.
And if there’s something I can do to support you, write me an email at hello@express-to-impress.com, and I’ll be happy to help out.
Thank you so much for listening to this episode of Express to Impress. See you next time. Bye!
